Description
Everyone in Kansas has a role to play in preventing suicide. All Kansans can learn the skills necessary to have a direct and nonjudgmental conversation about suicide, and to help people who may be at risk of suicide stay safe and get the help they need. This training is intended for anyone who is looking to bolster their knowledge and understanding of basic suicide intervention. This course is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).
In this course, participants will:
1. Build an understanding of risk factors and warning signs of suicide.
2. Be able to ask directly and non-judgmentally about suicide.
3. Learn the skills needed to gauge a person's current safety and risk.
4. Enhance listening skills.
5. Gain confidence connecting at-risk individuals to the next helper.
